100 Challenge

The 100 miles that Tash and Caz ran between Leeds and the Lake district to kick start the fundraising for Bags for Strife was not only significant in the effect it had on their calves but also in it’s poignancy to the statistics surrounding suicide.

In 2019, one in every 100 deaths was by suicide. The ripples of grief which emanate outwards when a loved one is lost to suicide are far reaching and, in our experience, can often feel like and endless succession of tsunamis for those closest. The impact of these life altering moments are felt by so many people.

In the hope of supporting the people left behind, letting them know that they are not alone in their grief, and remembering our loved ones who are so much more than mere statistics, we launched the “100 Challenge”.

The challenge is simple - do something, anything, 100 times over, and ask people to sponsor you whilst raising awareness for those who have been bereaved by suicide.

So many generous and brilliant people have already embarked on their personal 100 Challenge. Here are a few of their stories.

100 Miles

Tim The Running Postie

Our local postman challenged himself to run 100 miles in a week! The most he had ever run previously over 7 days was 45 miles but with the encouragement of the lovely people of Silverdale and some beautiful Lake District views he smashed his target!

100kg - 1000 Reps

Sons of Anarchy

Sons of Anarchy set themselves the monumental challenge of completing 1000 reps of a 100kg atlas stone over yoke (46" high) by midnight. 25  amazing people were involved in achieving this impressive goal.

100km Walk

South West Coast Path

In 2021, Janice and her dog Bailey walked 100km along the South West Coastal path in Cornwall. Together they met some lovely people who chatted openly about mental health and continuing the important conversations surrounding suicide.

100 Penalty Flicks

Great Britain Hockey Team

A local Lancashire hockey club were thrilled to welcome Olympic Bronze and Commonwealth Gold medallist Anna Toman to their training session for some coaching tips and a Q&A. Players donated their training fees to our charity.

Sunflower Ball.

In December of 2022 we held our first ever fundraising ball. We raised a whopping £12,000 to enable us to continue our important work. A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the event possible.
